The Muğla-based Education Geriatric Ecological Agriculture Tourism Foundation (EGET) won a silver medal in Italy with its EGET Harman olive oil, produced from olives grown in the Yaraş neighborhood. EGET's income is used to provide educational scholarships for low-income students.
EGET Harman olive oil was awarded a silver medal at the EVO IOOC Italy, a prominent international olive oil quality competition. With this result, EGET olive oils have reached a total of eight awards; one national and seven international.
According to a written statement from the EGET Foundation, EGET Harman olive oil, produced from Memecik and Gemlik olive varieties, was evaluated using a blind tasting method. The jury members tasted and scored the products without providing brand or origin information.
Özlem Uzman, Founder and Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the EGET Foundation, stated in her assessment in Palma, Italy, where the award ceremony was held, that the main goal of the success is to provide scholarships to more students.
Uzunçu said, “We recently announced seven awards, including our silver medal from Japan. We are proud to have won another award, especially in a competition considered a ‘champions league’. EGET’s entire effort is for students. These awards will be crowned when one more young person we support graduates.”
EGET's olive oils have won awards from competitions in Japan, London, Muğla, and Italy since 2020. The foundation continues to contribute to equal opportunities in education by transferring all income from its ecological farming activities to the scholarship fund.
On the other hand, Ula garlic, which EGET started producing using ecological methods, received the "Best Garlic Producer" award at the 2026 Ula Garlic Festival organized by Ula Municipality.
