EGET Returns from Japan with Award for Memecik Olive Oil, Wins First Place at Festival with Geographically Indicated Ula Garlic
The Education Geriatric Ecological Agriculture Tourism Foundation (EGET), which operates to provide scholarships to young people at risk of dropping out of education, continues to successfully represent Muğla's agricultural values on national and international platforms. EGET, which directs all its income to student scholarships with the principle of "From nature to you, from you to education," has achieved significant success with both its olive oil and its geographically indicated Ula Garlic.
Fourth Silver Medal from Japan
EGET Memecik cold-pressed olive oil won a silver medal in 2026 at the OLIVE JAPAN International Olive Competition, considered one of Asia's most prestigious olive oil competitions. In the competition organized by the Olive Oil Sommelier Association of Japan (OSAJ), olive oils are evaluated using a blind tasting method. EGET Memecik olive oil has won its fourth medal in Japan this year.
Muğla's Name Takes the World by Storm
A total of 801 samples from 29 countries participated in the 15th annual OLIVE JAPAN. EGET's success once again highlighted the quality of Muğla's olive and olive oil production internationally. Since 2020, EGET olive oils have received a total of 7 awards: 4 from Japan, 2 from London, and 1 from Muğla. This result demonstrates the brand's consistent commitment to quality.
Ula Garlic Brings First Place
Another success for EGET came with its geographically protected Ula Garlic. Grown for the first time using ecological methods at the foundation's farm in the Armutçuk region, Ula Garlic won first place in the competition held as part of the Ula Garlic Festival. EGET Foundation Economic Enterprise was awarded first prize in the "Best Garlic Producer Competition" held at the festival organized by Ula Municipality on June 13-14, 2026.
The Award Was Presented by the Protocol
The first prize was presented by Ula District Governor Mehmet Rıdvan Doğan and Ula Mayor Mehmet Caner to EGET Foundation Board Chairman Özlem Uzman and EGET Foundation Economic Enterprise Agricultural Engineer Necla Dal. EGET will work to deliver Ula Garlic, grown using ecological methods, to the finest kitchens in Turkey and the world.
"All Our Efforts Are To Provide a Scholarship for One More Student"
EGET Board Chairman Özlem Uzman stated that the awards received are of great significance to them, adding that the process, which began with lavender production, has transformed into an exemplary model in healthy, sustainable agricultural and industrial products. Uzman stated, “We have brought the Efilyun and EGETTEN brands to our country. Our EGET olive oils, originating from Muğla, a historical center of olives and olive oil, have begun to receive appreciation worldwide. Now we are working to bring Ula Garlic to its rightful place in Turkey's finest restaurants. All this effort is to be able to provide a scholarship to one more student.”
“We Want to Give Hope to More Young People”
Emphasizing that they have more work ahead, Özlem Uzman stated that they aim to deliver olive oil and Ula Garlic to people who value healthy eating, to select kitchens, and to gourmet restaurants. Uzman stated that developing ecological agriculture, supporting farmers, and providing more educational scholarships to young people are their most important tasks. She noted that EGET scholarships are determined by a ranking system based on applications, without any discrimination.
