The EGET Foundation, which supports education, won a silver medal for the fourth time in Japan with its world-renowned EGET Memecik olive oil, while its registered EGET Ula garlic was awarded first prize at a festival.
The Education, Geriatrics, Ecological Agriculture, and Tourism Foundation (EGET), which allocates all its income to education to provide scholarships for young people at risk of dropping out of school, has achieved great success both in Turkey and on the international stage with its agricultural products. EGET Memecik olive oil, the pride of the foundation, was awarded for the fourth time in one of Asia's most important competitions, while its geographically protected EGET Ula garlic returned from the festival with first place.
The EGET Foundation Economic Enterprise, which carries Muğla's local values into the future with ecological farming methods, has once again made the city's production culture visible on world platforms with this double victory.
EGET Memecik Olive Oil Proves Its Quality in Japan
The results of the 15th annual OLIVE JAPAN International Olive Competition, Asia's most prestigious olive oil competition organized by the Olive Oil Sommelier Association of Japan (OSAJ), have been announced. In this massive event, where a total of 801 samples from 29 countries were evaluated anonymously through blind tasting, EGET's cold-pressed Memecik olive oil won a silver medal.
With this global success, EGET olive oils have now certified their quality for the seventh time since 2020: four in Japan, two in London, and one in Muğla. Produced from the unique Memecik olives of the Aegean region, the olive oil has once again demonstrated its consistent quality in the Asian market, known for its meticulous culinary practices.
EGET Ula Garlic with Geographical Indication Wins First Place at the Festival
Another great source of pride for the EGET Foundation is its geographically registered Ula garlic, an indispensable ingredient in gourmet kitchens. EGET Ula garlic, harvested for the first time using ecological methods at the foundation's farm in the Armutçuk region, was awarded first prize in the "Best Garlic Producer Competition" held as part of the Ula Garlic Festival on June 13-14, 2026.
The first prize was presented to EGET Foundation Board Chairperson Özlem Uzman and Agricultural Engineer Necla Dal by Ula District Governor Mehmet Rıdvan Doğan and Ula Mayor Mehmet Caner.
EGET Board Chairperson Özlem Uzman stated that they will continue to be an example in healthy and sustainable agricultural products, adding, "All these efforts are to be able to provide more scholarships to even one more student and offer them equal opportunities." The foundation will accelerate its efforts to introduce this special garlic, produced using ecological methods, to Turkish and world cuisines.
