EGET Harman olive oil, produced from olives grown in the Yaraş neighborhood of Muğla, won a silver medal at the EVO IOOC Italy International Olive Oil Quality Competition. The EGET Foundation continues to allocate all proceeds to educational scholarships.
The Education, Geriatrics, Ecological Agriculture, and Tourism Foundation (EGET Foundation), based in Muğla, has added another success to its achievements in international olive oil competitions. EGET Harman olive oil, produced from Memecik and Gemlik olives grown in the Yaraş neighborhood, was awarded a silver medal at the EVO IOOC Italy International Olive Oil Quality Competition, considered one of the world's most prestigious organizations.
With this achievement, EGET olive oils have reached a total of eight awards, one national and seven international. The foundation continues to allocate all proceeds from olive oil sales as educational scholarships to low-income students.
Muğla Olive Oil Receives International Award
EGET Harman olive oil is produced in Muğla's Yaraş neighborhood using Memecik and Gemlik olives, following an ecological and meticulous production approach.
The product, which won a silver medal at EVO IOOC Italy, considered one of the world's leading olive oil competitions, was deemed worthy of the award after meeting superior quality criteria in a blind tasting evaluation conducted by an international jury.
Foundation officials stated that this success is not only an indicator for the EGET brand but also of the international quality level of Muğla olive oil.
All Income Goes to Educational Scholarships
The most important feature of the EGET Foundation is that all income generated from production is directed to educational scholarships.
Operating with the understanding of "From nature to you, from you to education," the foundation provides scholarship support to students who have difficulty continuing their education with the income it obtains from ecological agricultural products, primarily olive oil.
It was stated that applications are received through an online system, and scholarship recipients are selected through a special evaluation system developed to identify students most in need.
Özlem Uzman: "All our efforts are for the students"
Özlem Uzman, Founder and Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the EGET Foundation, attended the award ceremony held in Palma, Italy, and made the following remarks.
Uzunçu stated that the greatest significance of the award is reaching more students, saying:
"We recently announced seven awards, including one national and six international competitions, with our silver medal from Japan. We are proud to have won another award, moreover in a competition of a 'champions league' nature. All of EGET's efforts are for the students. All these awards will be crowned when one more young person we support graduates. This is the sole purpose of our efforts."
Stating that they believe a modern country can only be strengthened through education, Uzman emphasized the importance of equal opportunity and said that they will continue to transfer all income to the scholarship fund.
Eighth National and International Award
With the latest success from Italy, the number of awards received by EGET olive oils has risen to eight.
