The Education Geriatrics Ecological Agriculture Tourism Foundation (EGET), which operates under the principle of "From nature to you, from you to education," continues to make Muğla's name known on international platforms with its achievements in agricultural production. EGET Memecik olive oil won a silver medal at Olive Japan 2026, one of Asia's most prestigious olive oil competitions, while Ula Garlic also won first place at the festival.

Established to provide scholarships to young people at risk of dropping out of education and allocating all its income to education scholarships, EGET has added new successes to its agricultural production achievements.

EGET Memecik cold-pressed olive oil won a silver medal at the Olive Japan International Olive Competition, held in Japan and considered one of Asia's most respected olive oil competitions. Thus, EGET olive oils have received a total of seven international and national awards since 2020 in Japan, London, and Muğla.

Returning from Japan with an Award for the Fourth Time

The Olive Japan International Olive Competition, organized by the Olive Oil Sommelier Association of Japan (OSAJ), is among the world's most important olive oil competitions. In the competition, olive oils are evaluated using a blind tasting method, and products are scored according to their quality and aroma characteristics.

Ula Garlic Wins First Place at Festival

Another success for EGET came with Ula Garlic, one of Muğla's geographically protected products.

Ula Garlic, grown for the first time using ecological methods at the foundation's farm in the Armutçuk region, was awarded first place in the "Best Garlic Producer Competition" held as part of the Ula Garlic Festival on June 13-14.

The award was presented by Ula District Governor Mehmet Rıdvan Doğan and Ula Mayor Mehmet Caner to EGET Foundation Board Chairman Özlem Uzman and EGET Foundation Economic Enterprise Agricultural Engineer Necla Dal.

"Our Endeavor is to Provide Scholarships to More Students"

EGET Board Chair Özlem Uzman emphasized that the main goal of the achievements is to provide scholarships to more students.

Uzunçu said,

"In our journey that began with lavender production, today we successfully represent both Muğla and our country with valuable products such as olive oil and Ula Garlic. Our EGET olive oils are appreciated in different parts of the world. Now we are working to bring Ula Garlic to its rightful place in Türkiye's most prestigious restaurants. The aim of all our efforts is to be able to provide scholarships to more students."

Muğla's Local Values Opening Up to the World

EGET's achievements also contribute to the promotion of Muğla's local agricultural products on international platforms. While the foundation transfers the income it obtains from products produced using ecological farming methods to education scholarships, it also carries out exemplary work in sustainable agriculture and rural development.
