EGET has been creating resources for the education of young people for 10 years by extending its environmentally friendly production to personal care products.

The 10th Traditional Lavender Harvest Festival of the Education, Geriatrics, Ecological Agriculture, and Tourism Foundation (EGET Foundation) was held at the EGET Foundation Armutçuk Organic Farming Enterprise in Ula district of Muğla.

The Guest of Honor of the festival was Archaeologist-Academician Prof. Dr. Fahri Işık, recipient of the Turkish Presidential Culture and Arts Grand Award. On the first day of the festival, Prof. Dr. Fahri Işık gave a seminar and talk titled "The Carians of Luwian Nobility Who Were Not Greeks." Also on the same day, guests participated in the lavender harvest, experiencing the production process firsthand.

The lavender harvest continued with guests of all ages at the festival. In addition, Erdinç Özal gave a training session titled "Capture the Light: The Secrets of Mobile Phone Photography." Dietitian Ayşegül Öztürk provided information on "Healthy Living with a Lavender Breeze."

-Özlem Uzman: We are happy to experience the joy of our efforts turning into a product for the 10th time.

EGET Board Chairman Özlem Uzman stated:

“In our activities, which we started with the slogan 'From Nature to You, From You to Education,' our Armutçuk Agricultural Enterprise and our decision to cultivate lavender hold a significant place. First of all, we showed that lavender can be grown at this altitude and in this climate. Our lavenders brought prosperity to the beekeepers who brought their hives to our area, and we were happy about that. We extracted the oil from the lavender we cultivated and produced its hydrosol. By processing the agricultural products we cultivated using ecological methods, we transformed them into high-quality raw materials; with this accumulation, we brought the Efilyun brand to life in Muğla. Our products quickly began to receive orders from different provinces of Turkey and abroad.”

"Our entire effort is focused on channeling the income we generate as scholarships to young people at risk of dropping out of education. Thankfully, we have been able to provide scholarship support to 290 young people so far. The main purpose of EGET's agricultural activities is to create a regular source of funding for our scholarships. In addition, with the production methods we have developed and the experience we have gained, we aim to be an example and guide for producers in different regions of Turkey, starting from Muğla, in transforming agricultural products into economic value," he said.
