EGET Foundation Turns 10: A Wave of Kindness from Muğla

Founded in Muğla in 2015 by Safaî Özer and Özlem Uzman, the Education, Geriatrics, Ecological Agriculture, and Tourism Foundation (EGET) celebrated its tenth anniversary with a press conference titled "10 Years Dedicated to Education and Nature," recounting its journey over the past ten years. Uzman, referencing Atatürk's quote, "It is education that…", stated, "Lack of education is the biggest obstacle to a country's development. Our entire effort is to give equal opportunities to the most disadvantaged young people."

Equal Opportunities for Every Student: Digital, Objective Scholarships with BUSED

Since 2016, EGET has been using its own developed Scholarship Selection and Evaluation System (BUSED) software for selecting scholarship recipients.

39,960 applications were evaluated using digital and measurable criteria.

245 students received scholarships; three separate programs are in place at the high school and undergraduate levels.

Applications are received online, documents are verified, and a final interview is conducted.

Uzman emphasized, "We are one of the first foundations in Turkey to accept scholarship applications via a mobile application."

Sustainable Resources Beyond Donations: A Social Entrepreneurship Model

EGET goes beyond the classic donation model by developing projects in agriculture, geriatrics, and tourism through its economic enterprise. The Armutçuk Organic Farming Enterprise is the foundation's flagship, boasting 415 truffle-inoculated oak saplings, a 22,000 m² lavender field, and an organic distillation unit.

From Lavender to Cosmetics: EGET TEN

Oil obtained from organically certified lavender is transformed into EGET TEN cosmetic products registered with health authorities. Uzman stated, "We do not market any product without laboratory analysis," summarizing the good agricultural practices – reliable product – scholarship resource chain with the slogan "From Nature to You; From You to Education."

Gold Medal-Winning Olive Oil on the World Stage

EGET's olive oils have returned with awards from international competitions.

2020: EGET Kuzluk – Olive Japan silver

2023: EGET Memecik – Olive Japan and London IOOC silver

Acceptance into Good Market: “Good for people and the planet”

EGET's chemical fertilizer-free and pesticide-free production approach was officially recognized in July 2024 with acceptance into the international Good Market community. The use of worm compost in the fields and the production of organic yellow wheat, black awn, and chickpeas with heirloom seeds continues.

European Support for Environmental Education: HEEFTA

The HEEFTA project (Holistic Environmental Education From Training To Action), which originated from EGET's Nature and Life Academy, was selected as one of 60 projects out of 631 applications from 15 countries in the EU-supported Interreg NEXT Mediterranean Basin program; it stood out as one of three youth initiatives from Turkey funded. The project aims to establish youth networks focused on green-blue transformation with partners from Italy, Spain, Greece, Tunisia, and Egypt.

From the Classroom to the Streets: Doorless Libraries, Worm Ayşen, and Living Heritage

EGET is increasing children's access to books with its "Doorless Libraries, Books on the Streets" initiative; "I Am Worm Ayşen," written and illustrated by Safaî Özer, is instilling a love of nature in children. The Hacı Latifler House, the foundation's headquarters, is being preserved through restoration; the permaculture area in the garden is a "living learning" space.
