Uzman, Board Member of the Education, Geriatrics, Ecological Agriculture, Tourism (EGET) Foundation, stated that they provide scholarships to students by growing lavender and truffles.

Mugla-based EGET Foundation organized a press conference in Ankara. Making the press statement on behalf of the Foundation, Board Member Özlem Uzman pointed out that the economic crisis that started with the Covid-19 pandemic caused young people to disconnect from education. “The problem is deeper than you think. The unemployment rate has risen. We are afraid that in the coming years, there will be many students who will drop out of education even though they have passed university.” Referring to the housing problem of students, Uzman said, “The severe rent problem and lack of dormitories in big cities with many universities will cause more students to drop out of education compared to the past. The state and local governments should definitely develop programs to ensure that students in need do not lose their education.”

STUDENT SCHOLARSHIP FROM PRODUCER FOUNDATION

For the continuity of the scholarships, the foundation creates its own revolving fund through ecological agricultural activities on 22 decares of agricultural land in the Armutçuk neighborhood of Muğla’s Ula district. Within the scope of these activities, the foundation provides scholarships to students with the income generated from truffles, which are among the most expensive foods in the world, lavender and cosmetic products produced from lavender.
