EGET CONTINUES TO SUPPORT EDUCATION

The Education, Geriatrics, Ecological Agriculture-Tourism Foundation (EGET) provides scholarships to students at all levels of education who have financial difficulties during their studies. EGET Foundation Founder and Chairman of the Board of Directors Özlem Uzman talked to Frt microphone about the scholarship they provide to students as a foundation.

According to the news of our reporter Esma Turan; EGET Foundation Founder and Chairman Özlem Uzman said, “When we decided to establish a foundation, we agreed that it should be an education foundation. Safai Özer and I founded this foundation together. We realized what a right decision we had made. Because, not counting this year’s applications, 25,075 students applied for EGET Foundation scholarships. We think that the fact that there are so many applications for such a young foundation means that everyone should see how difficult the situation of young people really is. This year, 7168 students applied for our scholarships. These may be easy numbers to say, but they are actually very sad numbers. We are trying to give scholarships to more students as much as we can.

HOW DO YOU EVALUATE THE STUDENTS WHO WILL RECEIVE SCHOLARSHIPS? Thank you for asking this question. Because it’s an answer that donors and students need to know too. There are some criteria set by our education and scholarship commission. We have a software based on these criteria and we have evaluated students with this software since the first year. So I say this with pride that we think we are one of the few foundations in Turkey in this regard. Because the pen does not touch our students’ scholarship applications. As I said, the computer program evaluates them according to the criteria set by the scholarship commission. He then presents us with a list. Within the framework of that list, we expect students to submit their documents. We have a very, very long list. Because we have to make sure that our students need it. Then, when the documents are reviewed and approved, we invite the students for a Skype interview and if they reside in Muğla, we invite them for a face-to-face interview. The scores there are added and the students who will receive the EGET Foundation scholarship are determined.
