The first printed publication of the Education-Geriatrics-Ecological Agriculture-Tourism (EGET) Foundation, established 3 years ago in Muğla, was a children’s fairy tale. In the book ‘I am Aysen the Worm’, a worm not only introduces itself to children but also explains its benefits for nature.
Founded in 2015 by prefabricated building manufacturer businesswoman Özlem Uzman and renowned painter Safai Özer to provide scholarships to students in Menteşe District, EGET Foundation carries out important activities. Following the cultivation of truffles and lavender, known as black diamonds, the Foundation has now prepared a storybook to increase children’s love for nature. In the 8-page book titled ‘I worm Ansen’, written and illustrated by painter Safai Özer, the contribution of worms to nature is explained.
Making a statement on the subject, Özer said, “In agriculture that respects nature, the place of earthworms is unquestionably at the forefront. I believe that by describing the benefits of worms in a children’s book, we are in fact giving a message to adults. At a time when organic agriculture and agricultural products are being discussed, this is a book prepared to draw attention to vermicomposts, which are an indispensable part of organic agriculture. I believe that our children will love it.”
