EGET Foundation Plants Saplings in Turkey’s Largest Private Truffle Enterprise

EGET Foundation, which has reached the final stage of its establishment, transfers oak saplings infected with black truffle spores to the ground in Muğla-Ula on Sunday, May 24.

EGET Foundation managers, who aim to provide scholarships to high school and university students who have difficulty in studying due to their economic difficulties, state that they consider it inevitable to establish economic enterprises in order to create revolving funds for the foundation. In the 20,000 m2 facility, lavender and lavender honey will be produced as a by-product along with truffles.
On Sunday, May 24, the planting of the saplings that will be transferred to the field will be carried out by the participants of this event. EGET Foundation Armutçuk Agricultural Enterprise, which will harvest the first truffles in 2019, aims to produce 200 kg of mushrooms annually from 2025.
Black truffle (tuber melanosporum), which finds buyers for an average of 1000 Euros in the world markets, will provide the foundation with a return of approximately 600,000 TL per year.
EGET Foundation also plans to establish tourism businesses focused on organic agriculture and geriatrics. They have submitted their lands of 200.000 m2 for evaluation to Muğla Metropolitian Municipality within the scope of zoning studies.
According to the written statement made by Özlem Uzman, one of the founders of the foundation, EGET Foundation plans to develop in two main branches, national and international, after completing its structuring in Muğla. Its projects at the national level will be to open branches in other provinces, to organize activities to enlighten the society in the fields of organic agriculture, ecology, geriatrics and alternative tourism, and to establish exemplary businesses as well as to expand the education scholarships it will provide.
At the international level, it will cooperate with scientists who are experts in their fields and will ensure that the developments within the framework of the fields of interest are widespread in our country.
